What can be our ‘third track’ together?

I’ve always been a fan of techno music. I see it as a sound of the future, but let’s not judge musical preference, and yes I miss the raves :)

‘the third track’: the real fusion of 2 records to the point where people on the dancefloor can’t recognize the individual tracks.

One of the pioneers of the techno scene is Richie Hawtin, the Brittish/Canadian dj-producer who has been very influential with his music performances throughout his career. From the early Detroit techno circuit to this day he has left a clear mark on the scene with his unique style.

If you want to get a taste of his style, check his masterclass for the Apple Music Lab in Milan here.

When it comes to live dj sets, Richie Hawtin doensn’t just try to smootly connect 2 tracks, but instead he tries to create what he calls ‘the third track’: the real fusion of 2 records to the point where people on the dancefloor can’t recognize the individual tracks. They get something they’ve never heard yet.

What can be our ‘third track’ together?

The ‘third track’ philosophy is a great metaphor for companies willing to set up true and successful partnerships. We need to discover what really binds us together and how we can create mutual, new value.

Most partnerships are all too often commission models without any real ‘common goal or opportunity’. If you want to build long term partnerships, it’s not just about connecting two value propositions, we need to try to find the ‘third proposition’ together.

What is it that we can’t do by ourselves, what is the unique blend of the partnership and the mix of assets that makes 1+1=3 ?
